“I don’t normally read thrillers, but I was gifted a copy of The Warrior by Ty Patterson and I like to try new things, so I went for it. Glad I did. It’s good to break out of your shell and realize there’s a whole genre out there you’ve been overlooking for years.
The Warrior is fast paced, but has variable speeds so it stays fresh. At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like the lead character, Zeb Carter, but he quickly grew on me to the point that I was really enjoying him and excited to see what he was going to do next. Patterson does a nice job with character development. I also like that even though this is a thriller, you get a really good look at the troubles in Africa that we in the rest of the world tend to ignore. No, he doesn’t get preachy, it’s incorporated very well and makes the whole thing feel so much more real and intense.
In general, the plot was tight, good dialog, great character development. I would read another title by Ty Patterson. Hopefully he develops Zeb Carter into a series.”
